WORK (The film review)

WORK is a movie about a young dancer who seems not to be impressive in the eyes of her coach. This made her feel bad. Despite all that, she also faces abuse by a stranger in a bus on her way home. After all this, she gets home and still has to do a lot of work. Through all the stress, she managed to get her dance moves right in her next rehearsal.

The movie WORK made me feel sad at a point . It’s calm and dull. There was a bit of sensitivity in it.

In the beginning we see a group of dancers practicing. The transitions from one scene to the next was very confusing which took a bit of time for me to be engaged in it.

To summarize the movie in a sentence without spoiling it I would say— The teenager they abused.

The main central message of the film is telling a story of how teenagers are exposed to abuse by people they know and people they don’t know, and also the struggle they go through to be fit into society.

There wasn’t any unexpected twist in the movie, the film followed a certain path from the beginning to the end which made in more understandable.

All the characters were good in delivery. Their facial expressions and body language was on point making them believable and well-developed. You could feel the emotions being it happiness, tiredness or whatever.

The character Jess stood out positively by being brave in and enduring all the abuse she faced. She was a hard working teenager as well, she made sure everything was in place perfectly.

The relationship between Jess and her dance coach was compelling in a way that her dance coach complained that she was not giving out her best during rehearsals.

Close up shots were used to show the character’s emotions when ever something happened to them. Also medium shots were used to show certain movements of the characters. Bright colours was used in the film to give it the adventurous feel and dramatic sounds to make it more dramatic. The soundtrack of the film enhanced the dramatic performance.

The sounds in the movie played a major role in telling the particular happening or action in the film.

The dialogues moved hand in hand with the sounds which made it more balanced.

At the end, all expectations about the film was met. The message was clear and direct. It also evoked dramatic, hilarious and adventurous emotions. WORK is a movie I’ll recommend to everyone because it educative and relatable.
